For Groups Interested in Attacking Homelessness Where it Begins
Helping the Homeless Adds to ANY Community.
Helping the Homeless Adds to ANY Community.
Jeff Wieser was President & C.E.O. of Homes with Hope, Inc. for 10 years from 2010 - 2020. In that time he led one of the very few 501(c)3's responding to homelessness in an affluent suburban community.
By providing an example of how a community can be enriched by an active response to homelessness, we hope to encourage other Towns and Suburbs to help end the rapid growth of urban homelessness
We are happy to speak with anyone interested in ending homelessness. Please call Jeff Wieser at

Urban centers are losing the fight against homelessness. This fact rests with the number of individuals landing in those centers because they have no alternative where their support base exists: at home. Most suburban communities are okay with that for all the NIMBY reasons - and others - that we have heard for too long. Westport, CT acted differently 37 years ago when Interfaith Housing (now Homes with Hope) was founded. Since December, 1983, "HwH" has grown to care for 115 individuals and families in:
1) emergency shelters with 15 single men, 5 single women and eight young women 18-24 years old;
2) 47 Permanent Supportive Housing units in Westport and Norwalk, CT; and
3) a community kitchen and a food pantry, both in Westport, CT.
That care has been under the direction of Jeff Wieser since 2010. Jeff has seen local leaders, volunteers, donors, citizens and clients benefit from a local support organization for the homeless.
Beyond leading Homes with Hope, Jeff has served on the Executive Committee of Opening Doors Fairfield County (ODFC) and as Chair of Supportive Housing Works, the backbone organization for ODFC. In these roles he has been active in collaborating with over 100 providers in Connecticut who are working together to be leaders in the elimination of homelessness in Fairfield County, CT.
Following Homes with Hope, Jeff served until January, 2022, as President & CEO of Goodwill of Western & Northern CT in Bridgeport, CT, a 900-employee organization focused on providing employment opportunities to the underemployed in Fairfield County.
